Public Liability

The PGA Public Liability / Professional Indemnity programme provides protection to PGA Professionals worldwide  whilst engaged in PGA activities.

The insurance provides indemnity for all sums (limits apply) which the member shall become legally liable to pay by reason of liability in respect of Personal Injury or Property Damage resulting from an occurrence happening in connection with PGA activities.

Coverage applies to PGA activities.  There is no distinct definition of “PGA Activities”.  However the PGA and your insurer understands that it includes:

  • Providing golf coaching/lessons at appropriate golf facilities.
  • On and off course practice at appropriate golf facilities.
  • Tournament and Pro-am events.

A Loss must arise out of an insured’s “Business”.  “Business” means –

Professional Golfers Association of Australia Ltd, Management of the Golf association and coordinators of PGA; PGA Tour of Australasia and Pro Am Tournaments; property

owners and occupiers. In respect of members principally tournament play; teaching; appearances; practising; club making and repairs; exhibitions and any other activities incidental thereto.

Limit of Indemnity AUD 20,000,000 any one occurrence in respect of public liability and in the aggregate during the Period of Insurance in respect of Product liability
Care Custody & Control AUD 250,000
Deductible / Excess Nil

Coverage is not likely to apply in the following circumstances:

  • Playing or practicing at non-golfing facilities (i.e. – on sports ovals or local parks)
  • Whilst conducting a retail business (i.e. within or around the pro shop)

This coverage is for liabilities to third parties or third party property damage only and does not cover the member for their own personal injury or illness.

Members will need to obtain their own insurance for any insurances including, but not limited to, the following:

  • Business
  • Motor Vehicle
  • Buildings and Contents
  • Property – including golf clubs / stock
  • Personal Injury / income protection / Illness / Trauma
  • Travel
